On our first night of our honeymoon in San Francisco Erin and I headed to AME Restaurant for dinner. Located at the St. Regis San Francisco this started our dining experience off on the right foot. We found AME Restaurant via opentable.com under the Michelin Star winning restaurants. It won a star in both 2008 and 2009. Hiro Sone and Lissa Doumani have put together great New American style food with what I found to be a Japanese influence. In addition to the standard dining menu, AME boasts a great sashimi menu.
Our tasting menu started out with a “Three Preparations of Sashimi” – The sashimi on the right was a scallop with ceviche and cucumber. This was excellent and I could’ve made a meal out of just this.

The second course was a “Spring Onion Soup with Foie Gras Torelloni” – This was Erin’s favorite dish of the whole night

Next up was a fish course. We were treated to a “Broiled Sake Marinated Alaskan Black Cod in Shiso Broth.”
This was my favorite dish of the night. The cod was amazing; however I did find the broth to be too salty after the cod was finished to eat alone.
For dessert we were treated to two different dishes. First Erin enjoyed a “Summer Fruit Shortcake with Vanilla Bean Ice Cream and Almond Brittle”
I enjoyed a “Warm Rhubarb Pie with Orange Flower Ice Cream”
The decor in the restaurant was very clean and modern. It’s elegance was a perfect fit for the St. Regis and Erin and I both enjoyed the vibe. It was a little loud for such a small restaurant, but that fit the look and feel. The wait staff was good and made us feel right at home. As you’ll note in a couple of the pictures, they learned through conversation that it was our honeymoon and decorated the desserts accordingly. The wine pairings were very good, but nothing that wow’d us.
Here is a picture album with pictures of Erin and I at AME. At the end of the night we had to be a bit over dramatic as we left the restaurant slightly buzzed and extremely full.
We’ve been super busy this weekend making more decisions and planning away for the wedding that seems like it is flying closer. We’ve also added a couple of new pieces to the website. Besides the new look you’ll notice the new “Our Story” page and Directions page.
Much more will be added here in the coming weeks and please let us know what information you’d like to see on the site.

I’m engaged! I am still in shock about the whole thing. It was quite a surprise. As you all saw in the video Gary did propose with a very nice heart shaped diamond. He then told me I could go pick “the ring of my dreams!” You bet I was up bright and early the next day to head out to the jewelry stores! After browsing at a few we headed back to Jared. I found the perfect ring. It has a 1 carat princess cut diamond and the band has diamonds going all the way around. As I keep saying, “its very sparkly!” I couldn’t have asked for a more romantic proposal or a better man to do it! I am very excited to start our journey together. But for all of you who are curious about dates and locations…we are not even thinking about those details until February. I want to enjoy this moment and the excitement surrounding the engagement for awhile. We will keep you posted!!

The special moment
Last night I popped the question to Erin. With the assistance of 4 ft. roses, candles, rose pedals, champagne and some good music make for a memorable night. My new years resolution this year is to spend the rest of my life with the love of my life.
After a moment of shock she said yes. YEAH!!!
Thanks to Iman, I couldn’t have done it without you’re help. The setup was perfect!
Videos will be posted soon.

With gas prices on the rise, this poor college student is looking for new cheaper ways to travel.
This past week we had the great opportunity to take a couple of laps around Chicagoland Speedway in Nascars. The experience was amazing. During the ride-a-long we hit over 165 mph and were also able to hit 140 while driving ourselves. Here is a quick clip of Erin prior to taking a ride-a-long:
